-Catching Priscilla was a funny story. James was trying to teach a little girl in town on how to catch POKéMON, and so he decided to catch the first thing that he saw. He saw the Lopunny and noticed the girl’s interest in it so he decided to teach her using that. After catching it, he decided to give it to the girl, but she didn’t accept it and he was stuck with it. Thinking that it was a girl, he gave it the nickname of ‘Priscilla’. When he found out it was a boy, he was too lazy to head three towns down to change its name, so the Lopunny is stuck as Priscilla. Most people would assume that the Lopunny is female, but if they voice it, Priscilla will kick them where it hurts. James gets this punishment on a daily basis for naming his POKéMON that. James doesn’t mind getting pummelled though, since Priscilla was his best fighting POKéMON thanks to the poundings it gave to him.

-Bruce was the POKéMON that James acquired when he was to set out on his POKéMON journey. As a Totodile, Bruce wasn’t the brightest of creatures. He always attacked his trainer, and never the POKéMON that was battling him. He still does now as a Feraligatr. Just, now it seems like he attacks James on a daily basis (or whenever he is let out of his PokéBall) because he likes to wrestle with the young man and sees it as a fun game. They would only stop wrestling when they have been called out, or if James won. If not, then they would always continue for Bruce is a playful creature. Besides, the ‘Feraligatr Wrestling’ act was James’s best act whenever he is performing.
Seviper — Viper — ♂ — lvl 52
Jolly nature.

Met at Lv. 29.
Somewhat of a clown.

-Seviper was caught when James was doing one of street acts. He had to dress up as a Zangoose. Knowing that Seviper and Zangoose are bitter enemies, the POKéMON attacked him on sight. When found out that he was actually a human DRESSED AS a Zangoose, the Seviper attacked James regardless. It was only until Bruce came out when the Seviper stopped, afraid of the—then—Croconaw. When James came to, he saw that Bruce and the Seviper were in a battle and somehow the Seviper fainted. Knowing the Seviper’s strength, James managed to catch it easily and then he dragged himself to the nearest POKéMON Centre to patch himself, Bruce, and Viper up. Now Viper likes James’s company, but he has a dislike for Bruce. He could push the dislike aside though, whenever they were performing.
Kangaskhan — Jack — ♀ — lvl 49

-After his first few years of travelling around, he returned home to his parents’ house. He heard that their Kangaskhan had an egg and they wanted James to take it so he could ‘experience the wonder of egg hatching’ on his journey since he was only scheduled to stay home for two nights. The egg hatched randomly one day when James was performing, and somehow the little Kangaskhan managed to get away from the watchful eye of Steve (who was sleeping at the time), and get on scene where James was fighting Bruce. James saw the critter and freaked out, doing his best to keep it safe and not be wounded by Bruce. By the end of it all, the Kangaskhan was safe, Bruce won the match, and James acquired a broken arm. It had been very well, in James’s eyes. He accidentally named Kangaskhan ‘Jack’, but it didn’t matter, since Kangaskhan was happy with the name. Besides, ‘Fighting Jack’ sounds better than ‘Fighting Jill’; that, and James wouldn’t lose as much pride in losing to a seemingly male Kangaskhan than losing to a female Kangaskhan (even though there are no male Kangaskhan in existence since ever).
Teddiursa — Steve — ♂ — lvl 36

Quick tempered.
Ability: Pickup – The Pokémon may pick up items.

-Steve was James’s first POKéMON. The boy had found the Teddiursa when he was playing around in the tall grass, poking at the dangerous POKéMON in the area and just trying to observe them. When he picked up the Teddiursa, its mother (Ursaring) saw and thought James was a threat to her cub and so she ran after him. When he noticed her, he ran all the way up a tree (cub and all in his arms). Staying in that tree for days gave James the lesson of never touching an Ursaring’s cub and had gained him a new, long lasting companion. Steve doesn’t like the acts that James puts on, so he is always irritated whenever the other tries to get him in a little suit or perform. He would just attack James whenever that happens, but he would perform in the end anyways. It was mainly due to the fact that James stole an Everstone for him when they were performing one day, and that landed James in trouble. Steve couldn’t believe his trainer was big enough of an idiot to steal one, but he knew after that that James really cared about him. He also knew that he was the main attractions to kids. Little girls loved his cuteness.

-James was enticed by Reef’s beauty when he first laid eyes on her. He knew that he had to catch her, no matter what! He stalked her to the deepest of oceans (thanks to Bruce). When he caught her, he felt like he was kidnapping her because she was with a large bunch of Corsolas; but then he thought about it again and saw it as free game since she was a wild POKéMON. She was now one of the main attractions to his street performance whenever they were near water now, since she had grown to like James. It was mainly because he bought her pretty clips and flowers to decorate her horns with.
Starter:
Technically, James started with a Totodile, but he had befriended a Teddiursa first. They are both in his party, but Teddiursa was his first Pokémon, while Totodile was his starter.
Role: Street Performer
Background:
James wasn’t always known as James Ackland. With his family, he was known as Dorak Nooncal. He lived a happy life, but he was a very curious child. Every time a trainer came to town, he would sneak off to play with any new POKéMON that may have come; and when there are no new trainers in town, he would sneak out to the forest nearby and observe POKéMON from there since James wanted to know about every type of POKéMON in the world. Whenever he was caught though, his parents would lock him in his room—despite the fact that his room is tiny.
So as soon as he was of age, he was off on his very own journey to meet as many POKéMON as possible. When he had been able to do so in his region and the region next door, he returned home. He found out that his parents have taken care of his Magikarp pond very well. They all seemed to be glad to see him home, but weren’t too fond of his new water POKéMON. Their dislike for Reef and Bruce didn’t lessen when they went for a swim in the pond either. After the first night, James didn’t let the two stay in the Magikarp pond since he feared that his Magikarps would be hurt.
On the third day, James departed without his parents realising since his parents kept pestering him about what he was doing now, and what kind of POKéMON he had caught. He only elaborated on the POKéMON he saw, and so that was why they kept pestering him.
He didn’t want to tell his parents that he was working as a street performer during the day and fighting people at night for money; all under the pseudonym of James Ackland. They had let him go out on his own on the condition that he was to travel and study. He had grown bored of studying after the first year and found another way to observe POKéMON and get money. Besides, he liked performing with his team since it was always fun (especially getting beaten by his POKéMON).
His parents eventually found out that he was a street performer though, and they were surprisingly fine with that. They said that he should come perform back home some time, and he may take them up on that offer in the near future.
The only problem was, James had started an underground ring/circuit where trainers pit their Pokémon to fight to the death, and he knew that if his parents ever found out then he cannot show his face around home again, ever. That was the only reason why he never did a show at home before, because he was afraid of shaming his parental units.
Relations:
(I assume I should add as we go along since I don’t know what people’s feelings on this role play are yet).
Appearance:
From head to toe, the Australian is approximately 196 centimetres (about 6’5”), making him not the tallest man, but he was not the shortest either. To even out his height, he weighs about 106 kilograms (approximately 234 pounds). He is not heavy because of fat though, but because of the muscles he had acquired from him training with his POKéMON whenever he could; he even has the abs to prove it. With his green eyes, he could easily tell a story, and give his emotions through his eyes.
On his square face, he has a Band-Aid across his nose most of the time, due to many injuries he has suffered. Whenever he is not hurt though, the Band-Aid is still across his face because it has grown to be a fairly sensitive area for him, same with his thick eyebrows. Both the bridge of his nose and his eyebrows are his weakest points, giving him the most t pain when touched.
Most of his muscular body have either bruises or cuts or injury, but they were all because of him not being careful. He has been known to climb in the more dangerous areas or on nearby trees when he was a child and gravity was not his best friend in these situations. It always brought him down whenever it could, or whenever he had a misstep. If it weren’t for his missteps, then it would be because of his own stupidity for going out and poking dangerous POKéMON when he was a child to get the marks. It does not matter to him though. With every scar, he had a story to tell, and he actually enjoys telling them to others.
His everyday outfit consists of anything comfortable. If he could move easily in it, then he would be fine. He does not care if it is neat or not, since being neat usually constricts movement, not help movement; even his chocolate coloured hair is in a comfortable position where it will not stick in his face and cover his eyes.
Personality:
Like many trainers, James is not the brightest bulb in the pack. He knows how to get a POKéMON out of its ball and gets it to attack, those things are easy to do; but getting him to understand the situation of the battle and getting the right attacks to win the match is like pulling teeth. If someone used a grass type POKéMON, he would let out his water type, just because it ‘seemed the best’ to him.
That could either be his saving trait, or the death of him, since he does not think ahead. It could save him since it can confuse the other party so much that he would have a chance to escape from their wrath and win; however, it is more than likely to be the end of him because he does not know when to stop and think (like when he tells a father or an overprotective male to a person he is having a fling with that he is having a fling with said person). He does not mean to say what he says and get himself hurt, but it does happen, and he is left with a nasty mark more often than none.
Not thinking ahead also makes him fairly blunt, and he does say a lot of hurtful things to people without meaning to. When he figures it out though, he does go and apologise, but it usually does not happen since he is hardly aware of hurting someone else’s feelings at all.
Maybe because he is not aware of anyone’s feeling and because he is a dope, he does not realise that he is a womaniser. He tends to start many relationships, and in the end they all would lead to being a large affair where in the end he will get hurt physically by those he used; but boys will be boys, and if being a womaniser was part of being a boy, then being a prankster would also classify as being a boy; which is true in James’s case. He loves to prank people, but thanks to him being slow, he does take it a bit farther than most sometimes.
Adding on to that, he is also very crude and vulgar when it comes to certain (many) things. He usually does go as far as to offend people. He does usually apologise and attempt to stop, but again, it is only if he catches it.
The dork is not all bad. He is pretty easygoing and is always smiling, which helps him greatly when he is performing, since life is life and a show is just a show. It didn’t mean that he didn’t care about the show, but he doesn’t let it consume his life. Sure, at times when he is acting relaxed about the show (or too relaxed) it could freak people out when he is in a dangerous position with Bruce, but he finds being relaxed and tolerant to anything that is thrown at him helps him adapt quicker to the situation, and when something (like an unforeseen move) is thrown at him, he can get his boots on and jump into action quicker.
When he knows he is in danger, or his loved ones are in danger (or being taken and wooed by others), he would go into the mode of ‘lizard brain’. It doesn’t happen often, but when he does, he gets violent. It takes a while to calm him down, and usually he goes about to attack many people before calming down. At these times, it is best to isolate him or lock him in a small area until he goes back to normal.
Likes:
-Strange POKéMON: He loves all kinds of POKéMON, but he has a fascination the ones that are not native to his region. He will spend time with them, and play with them (even if the trainers run away from him he will follow).
-Cross dressing: He will sometimes dress as a woman for the sake of his performance, and he likes to do so too. He knows that he can pull it off decently, and besides, it is fun to trick people into thinking that he is ‘Jane, James’s lovely sister and assistant’.
-Sweets: If you give him sweets, he’ll melt and do anything for you.
-Beer: He loves drinking. It really doesn’t help his show, but he never listens to anyone who tells him that. He just drinks whenever he wants to; preshow or post-show.
-Open Space: It relaxes him to be in the open and he feels like he has the freedom to do anything in the world.
-His Family: James is a family man, even if he doesn’t show it. He loves spending time with them and will make it a priority to go back home every few years since it is a pain to go back annually. He will send pictures write to and call his family very often though—but he will hang up or change topics whenever they ask him about what he’s doing for money.
Dislikes:
-Snow: He just needs to warm up to it, since he isn’t used to the cold, wet sand.
-Isolation: He does not like to be alone, since it brings back bad memory.
-Police: James just hates them because if they found out that some of his night shows were rigged, he would get in trouble. He’s an upstanding citizen during the day though, honest!
-Reading: It bores him to no end. He does not have the attention span to sit down and read anything for a long time. He may do it on occasion, but he will get bored very easily.
Strengths:
-Stamina: He can fight Bruce for a very long time, and he can do manual labour fairly well. It actually takes a lot to tire him out, wounded or not.
-Street Smart: He doesn’t have the attention span to do well in school, but he does know the way of the streets very well. That is how he can rig his shows so that he can always get the money he needs in the end.
-Mr. Brightside: James will always have a smile on his face, no matter what the situation is. Some may call him crazy for this, but he can always see that there is a Brightside to every single situation that is thrown at him.
-Heals Quickly: From getting so many wounds, scars, and broken appendages, James’s body has learned to heal itself very efficiently and it can do so very quickly now. It may not be good for him, but at least he can use his body more now.
-People Person: He loves being around people, and he can get along with just about anyone. Well, he can get along with them, but they may not have mutual feelings with him.
Weaknesses:
-Blunt: He can hurt others’ feelings by mistake and not realise it. He doesn’t apologise though, since he hardly realises it.
-Doesn’t Think: James doesn’t think as often as he should. He really doesn’t think when he’s talking to other people and can say the wrong thing; he comes off as being rude most of the time.
-Sports: He loves playing them, but the only thing is he cannot play them well. He still likes to play them though, and losing will not discourage him from playing.
-Short Attention Span: He can’t concentrate on one single thing for too long. He would get bored and just walk away without a word, or become interested in something else.
-Injury Magnet: Everywhere he goes it seems like he gets injured. It is like injuries are attracted to him, and there is no avoiding it.
Quirks:
-Accent: He does say some words a certain way when he speaks, but it’s mainly because he isn’t from around the region.
-Fidgeting: If James is kept sitting for too long, he will start to fidget. It is usually bouncing his legs, but he will go to pick his scabs and play with bandages if he gets bored.
-Sensitive Bridge: The bridge of his nose is very sensitive, so he puts a bandage on there just so people will not accidentally touch it. It does annoy him at times, but he has learned to ignore it.
Fears:
-Claustrophobia: James dislikes enclosed spaces. Whenever he is in a small room or restrained in some way, he will hyperventilate and freak out—it has gotten to the point where he has succumbed and fell into the foetal position and cried before. He can stand crowds of people though, surprisingly enough.
-Soteriophobia: Even though James may not seem it, he does not like to depend on others. He is scared that he will have to depend on others, and so he tries to make it seem like he doesn’t have to—even when he really does.

Everyone was crowding the centre square, for the show was about to begin. Ladies and gentlemen, short and stout, they all came to watch the act. Even the little bug-eyed children of the town eagerly pushed their way through the crowd to watch the show. It was entertainment for the whole family, for the act was fairly clean, and it was all in jest (most of the time).
There were many things to be excited for when it came to the show. Priscilla, Queen of the Ball; Bruce, King of the Ring; Reef, Princess of the Waters; Hypnotising Viper; and Steve-O, the lovable Teddiursa who is always giving away hugs; the only thing they had missing from their band was a charismatic leader—or so people thought. It was only the Pokémon out at the moment. Where could the leader of the band be? Most Pokémon wouldn’t perform without a trainer, so the crowd knew that their trainers had to be somewhere.
With a puff of colourful smoke, a teenage male appeared in the centre of his Pokémon. From head to toe he was in very casual clothing. He was just wearing a light blue dress shirt, a matching tie, and beige slacks. With a large smile, he looked at the crowd. This bunch seemed like they would be a great audience to perform for.
He hoped that it was the case.
“Ladies and Gents, kids o’ all ages… Welcome to the show~” The brunet grinned, spreading his arms so that he was in full view. Each of his Pokémon reached up and leaped, showing their enthusiasm for the show. James had told them numerous times before any show that being a good performer meant that they had to be excited about every single show, even if they—as the performers—were tired of the content.
“Now, may I present to you…” The other five Pokémon stepped back, leaving the lone Lopunny. “Priscilla, Queen of the Ball!”
The crowd cheered, and the Lopunny got into his place. It took him a moment before the music started, and that was his cue to dance; The Dying Swan. Priscilla knew the dance by heart, and he could do it when he was asleep.
When he was done and the music stopped, the crowd cheered again. The Lopunny bowed and scurried off stage.
James returned to the crowed, but this time he was in wrestling tights. His body wasn’t too flattering, but he liked the way he looked. He wasn’t self-conscious about it. “Now,” A mischievous smile was plastered on his face. “That was beautiful and all, but I am sure you are all here for another reason.” He smiled as a large Feraligatr stepped up next to him.
“Let the Feraligatr Wrestling match… Begin!” James announced as he and Bruce got into positions. Once he was where he needed to be, James heard a cracking noise then a small cry, and he didn’t want to start the match. It was too late though, and within minutes, he was already down and in a very awkward position. James let out a groan and Bruce knew that it was his cue to allow James to flip him.
When the two flipped though, James saw something moving from the corner of his eye; a little Kangaskhan was coming from the other end of the stage. It had to be his Kangaskhan. He knew it. Without realising Bruce had gotten off of him, James turned back late and realised that the Feraligatr was about to jump on him.
The brunet rolled away as fast as he could, and just in time too or he would have been crushed and seriously injured. He had to keep an eye out for that Kangaskhan though.
The next few moments were a blur to him. Bruce had his arm in his mouth, and James must have bent his arm the wrong way when he tried to pull out and run over to the Kangaskhan when he saw it was about to fall into the pond nearby.
He remembered the searing pain though, and that was enough to make him remember the horrible match.
The show had to end early, and the next thing he knew he was in a hospital bed with a cast on his arm, and he was waking up to see his Pokémon by his side. Every single one was by his side, and he was glad that they cared about him so much. Even little Steve-O, the angry Teddiursa, was carrying the Kangaskhan as if they were family.
“Ya know… This was one of the best shows yet.” James grinned, giving all of his Pokémon an awkward one armed hug.
This is why he loved his Pokémon; not because they could perform, but they were one big, odd family.
